Frequently asked questions

Where do you hold classes?

An accredited instructor will come to your workplace, home or other venue at a time that it suits you. For work classes in particular this is a huge benefit as on-site training eliminates travel time and expenses. A training space or venue can easily be arranged for work or private courses.

What happens when I book a class/course?

After you sign up, you’ll receive the online theory component of your course about a week before your class. This theory work is a requirement of the course and adds to the practical work you’ll do on course day for you to obtain your certificate. You’ll need to have this online work fully completed before the day of your course.

Why do I have to do “homework” before I come to a class/course?

Completing the theory part of your course before your actual class is simply a way to reduce face-to-face hours (thanks, COVID!). You’ll receive a pre-course link, and then you just complete the course in your own time and at your own speed.

I’m a terrible student, what if I’m rubbish at this take-home work?

Don’t worry, you’ll be fine! It’s all very “do-able” and not like an old-fashioned school test at all. You need to pass each section before you can progress to the next component, so you’ll always know exactly where you stand – there are no nasty surprises at the end!

What should I expect on the day of the class/course?

Relaxed, informal classes that are hugely informative, fast-paced and fun! There might be breaks for lunch and/or morning/afternoon tea, but it all depends on the course you’re doing and how long it runs for. At the end of the class you’ll be given a take-home pack containing information that summarises everything you’ll have learnt in the class, plus some other helpful bits and bobs. Oh, and if you have a sweet tooth you’ll be happy – Alex is famous for bringing lollies to class!

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear comfortable, casual clothing as our classes/courses are highly practical in nature and quite physical, and we will be learning drills at floor level. Things like jeans, shorts, leggings, tights and tees are perfect. Please wear a mask to class if the rules at the time demand it, and of course do not attend training if you’re experiencing any cold/flu-like symptoms.

What do I need to bring on the day?

Please bring a water bottle, notepaper and pen with you. You’ll also need some form of identification, such as a passport, medicare card or driver’s licence, in order for your certificate to be issued.

What qualification will I have at the end of my training class/course?

People who successfully complete one of our nationally recognised courses will receive a certificate of attainment/competence.

How long is my certificate valid for?

First aid certificates are valid for three years, while CPR certificates are valid for 12 months. We recommend you do a refresher course after this time in order to renew your certificate.

How will I receive my certificate?

An electronic version of your certificate will be emailed to you within five business days of you successfully completing the course. A high-quality hard copy will be posted shortly after that.

I’ve completed training but haven’t received my certificate, what should I do?

This hasn’t happened to any of our clients yet, but there’s always a first time! If this should happen to you, please give Alex a call on 0409 878 280 and she’ll sort everything out.
